Registry Lock & Premium Domains

Registry Lock provides addition protection by the registry for domain names with this status. Its purpose is to reduce the risk of your domain names being hijacked. The service will provide you with a better level of security for your critical domain names, due to extra layers of authentication between the domain registry and registrar.

REGISTRY LOCK FEATURES

  • Blocks changes to DNS servers
  • Blocks transfer of the domain name
  • Blocks changes to contacts
  • Blocks deletion of the domain name

These changes will require triple authentication. If a request is made for a domain locked by the registry, an authorized person from the registrar must submit the request to the registry in order to unlock the domain name. The registry then contacts the requester by phone, and the latter must provide a personalized security phrase in order for the domain to be unlocked. This step is in addition to the usual process and provides greatly improved security for strategic domains.

 
 

WHY INCREASE YOUR LEVEL OF PROTECTION ?

If cyber criminals hijack your domain names, they can also hijack web traffic and direct it to other addresses, causing considerable damage.

This may give rise to multiple problems :

  • Loss of image/trust
  • Loss of revenue/inconvenience
  • Loss of confidential or strategic information

  • Facebook.com, which foiled an attempt to change its DNS servers by setting up this protection

SafeBrands’ Premium Domain Service adds an extra layer of security in addition to registry lock status. This option blocks changes that are not covered by Registry Lock :

  • It blocks changes to the zone file
  • It blocks URL redirection changes
  • You will also have the option to restrict access to your client area by certain IP addresses, giving you a more than adequate level of protection. Although there is no such thing as zero risk, we believe that our service comes close.
